A gorgeous Depression-era carnival glass set by the Jeannette Glass Company made in Jeanette, PA, in the late 1920s into the 1930s. The set includes one pitcher and four matching glasses in the highly collectible Tree Bark pattern in the classic Marigold colorway.

Tree Bark is one of the most recognizable patterns in Depression glass collecting. The surface is covered in deeply molded, organic vertical ridges that mimic the texture of actual wood bark or, depending on the light, the streaking lines of falling rain. The heavy, tactile texture gives the glass a sculptural quality and feels substantial in the hand.

Carnival glass was made by spraying metallic salts onto the glass while it was still hot from the mold. The result is a shimmering, multi-colored iridescent luster that shifts and flashes as the light moves across it, catching shades of pink, gold, and warm peach depending on the angle. The Marigold color beneath is a rich, fiery orange-gold that glows when backlit. 

The pitcher features a thick, structural pulled-style handle and a classic molded ice lip spout, a practical Depression-era design detail that catches ice cubes while pouring. This set has a commanding presence on a bar cart, sideboard, or open shelf.
