Antique Knowles, Taylor & Knowles American White Ironstone Chamber Pot

Equal parts history and curiosity, this antique ironstone chamber pot is in the California design by Knowles, Taylor & Knowles out of East Liverpool, Ohio. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, East Liverpool was globally recognized as the "Pottery Capital of the World." It produced nearly half of all domestic and hotel ceramic wares in the United States. Knowles, Taylor & Knowles was once the largest pottery company in the world.
Genuinely beautiful, this piece is a true antique manufactured between the 1870s and 1880s. The clean white glaze is smooth and shiny, with no chips or cracks. At 5.5" high and 9" in diameter at its widest, it is a substantial vessel with wonderful presence. Plant a trailing succulent or a lush fern and let it become the most charming planter in the room. Use to hold shells, glass fishing floats or other small collectables. Either way, it earns its place.
Quite a find from a brand with a high-status, stellar reputation as an industry giant and technical innovator.
