Czechoslovakian Turquoise Seltzer Bottle

This vintage seltzer bottle was made in Czechoslovakia in the early to mid-20th Century for Jacob Goldberg Seltzer Distributors of Brooklyn, New York, one of the neighborhood seltzer operations that once defined daily life in New York City. These heavy glass bottles were filled, delivered door to door, and returned to be refilled again.
The turquoise glass is rich and saturated and feels both vintage and modern. The bottle is etched with "Jacob Goldberg Seltzer Dist. Brooklyn, NY / Contents 25 oz. / Registered." The "Registered" mark denotes a legal filing common among independent New York seltzermen during this era to protect their valuable glass stock from being collected or refilled by competitors. The bottom is stamped "Made in Czechoslovakia."
Imagine this piece glowing on a shelf or bar cart. Stunning!
