Elegant and understated, this vintage Japanese Arita ware porcelain serving platter in a soft coastal palette is a natural fit in any light, airy space. The central composition features traditional scrolling Karakusa vines cradling peony blossoms, beautifully framed by alternating floral panels along the wide, sloping rim. The underside features a pristine white glaze bearing the hand-painted, underglaze blue two-character kiln mark for 豪陶 (Hōtō), a well-regarded Arita producer. This piece dates to the 1970s-1980s.
At 8" wide × 9" long, its shallow form works beautifully as a serving piece, display object, a catch-all on a console or dresser, or a centerpiece on a coffee table filled with shells or stones.
